Noble House recently visited Pinas Bay, Panama. This is where you find some of the finest fishing in the world. We were not disappointed, read about our adventure!

Noble House anchored in Pinas Bay, Panama out in front of the world famous Tropic Star Lodge for two weeks of nonstop fishing. For those of you unfamiliar, Tropic Star Lodge is unquestionably one of the best fishing lodges in the world with over 200 world records credited to the waters surrounding her. With that being said, there was no way Noble House was not going stop and get in on the action. To make things even better we had the boss and a group of his friends who were nothing less than relentless in their pursuit to catch everything that swam.
Tuna Catch!
As for the fishing, I’ll be honest; I can’t remember everything we caught. As I type this there are still 4 yellow fin tunas frozen solid in the walk-in that weigh about 100lbs each. That’s after filleting at least 2 a day and giving away a few more to the local Indian kids that paddle up in their canoes every afternoon. There were as many 60-110lb yellow fins as you could possibly ever care to catch. There were literally schools of them that would stretch a half mile across and be suspended from the surface down to about 150ft. Luckily the night before some of the other crew and me were goofing around catching bait behind the boat that I intended to use for roosterfish the next day. This turned out to be the secret weapon against the tuna. As we pulled up into the school and fired one back it was immediately inhaled no more than 30 ft behind the boat. FISH ON!!!!! This same scenario ensued time after time for the next couple of hours until everyone was worn out.
The marlin fishing wasn’t as switched on as we would have liked for it to be but we still managed to release a couple of nice ones. Between the lodge boats (about 11 of them), another private boat and us the fleet was averaging about 2 releases a day. The biggest marlin of the trip, a black in the neighborhood of 500-600lbs was caught by the most devoted angler of the group, Mark Brady, on the 2nd to last day of trip.
Aside from the tuna and billfish there were good amounts of mahi around as is always the case with Pinas Bay. It’s really never a bad thing when your annoying by-catch are 30lb mahi-mahi. We did manage to pull ourselves away from the action offshore to try our luck inshore and let one of the guys get out his personal light tackle that he’d brought along. Standing on the bow of the Cabo and casting various lures into a few different schools we came across yielded some football sized yellow fin, bonita, rainbow runners and one roosterfish - nonstop action all day long.
If the world class fishing wasn’t enough – having the chef onboard making everyone breakfast and lunch as well as blasting out gallons of margaritas at lightning speed on our gas power blender rounded off the experience. I know I’ll be counting the days until we return to my favorite fishing spot on earth!
